About the role
The Patient Relations Representative acts as a trusted advocate for patients, guiding them through insurance, benefits, and access‑to‑care questions while ensuring a seamless, high‑quality experience throughout their healthcare journey.
Key responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for patients regarding Medicare, Medicaid, and health plan benefits, eligibility, and coverage options.
- Assist patients with appointment scheduling, referrals, billing issues, and care coordination, removing barriers to treatment adherence.
- Educate patients on public assistance programs, help complete applications and documentation, and advocate for needed services.
- Support patient onboarding, build strong relationships with patients and caregivers, and promote participation in preventative and health‑management programs.
- Collaborate with clinic leadership and interdisciplinary teams to improve workflows, support scheduling coordination, maintain accurate records, and ensure HIPAA‑compliant confidentiality.
- Participate in quality‑improvement initiatives, patient experience meetings, and case reviews to drive satisfaction and retention.
- Engage with community organizations and programs such as SHIP/HICAP to expand resources available to Medicare beneficiaries.
Required profile
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum three years of experience in healthcare operations, patient relations, customer service, or care coordination.
- Experience working with Medicare, Medicaid, or managed‑care populations is preferred.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem‑solving abilities.
- Capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining confidentiality.
