Lead Data Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Lead Data Engineer to drive the design, implementation and migration of large‑scale data platforms. The role is fully remote and supports our operations across Costa Rica, Peru, Colombia and Bolivia. You will lead a team of engineers and ensure reliable, production‑ready data solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor data engineering teams, set technical direction, conduct code reviews and promote engineering excellence.
• Own end‑to‑end architecture, design and implementation of scalable, reliable data platforms.
• Define and execute data migration strategies from Snowflake/SSIS to Azure Databricks and DBT.
• Oversee scalable data pipelines, data models, Terraform infrastructure, CI/CD, data integration, observability and platform stability across Azure and legacy environments.

Required profile

• 8+ years of data engineering experience, including 2–3 years in a lead or staff‑level role.
• Proven track record designing and delivering large‑scale data platforms.
• Experience in insurance or financial services with knowledge of claims, policies, underwriting and risk.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cloud‑to‑cloud migration projects, preferably AWS to Azure.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to make architectural trade‑offs.
