Knowledge Engineer - Remote

About the role

As a Knowledge Engineer you will transform tribal knowledge from BI and finance teams into a formal ontology and semantic layer that AI agents can reliably use. You will work remotely with data and AI engineers to create a queryable, structured foundation for natural‑language data access.

Key responsibilities

• Design ontologies and taxonomies over enterprise data.
• Model semantic layers to enable natural‑language queries across data warehouses.
• Build knowledge graphs applying graph‑theory principles.
• Elicit undocumented semantics from BI and finance stakeholders.
• Support data lineage and stewardship practices.
• Collaborate closely with data engineers, AI engineers, and internal teams.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in knowledge engineering or ontology design.
• Strong proficiency in OWL (Web Ontology Language).
• Hands‑on experience with Protégé or WebProtégé.
• Experience with RDF and SPARQL for semantic modeling.
• Background in knowledge‑graph modeling and applied graph theory.
• Experience with data lineage and stewardship practices.
• Strong stakeholder‑elicitation skills.
• Advanced proficiency in English.
