Elixir Backend Engineer – Remote – Latin America

About the role
We are looking for an experienced Elixir Backend Engineer to join our talent network and work remotely with U.S. clients on project‑based development. You will become an integral part of the client’s engineering team, collaborating daily with designers and engineers to deliver high‑quality backend services.
Key responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain robust APIs using Elixir and the Phoenix framework.
- Build and support backend services that power mobile applications (React Native).
- Integrate third‑party APIs and ensure reliable software connectivity.
- Work with relational databases (SQL, PostgreSQL, Ecto) and optimize data access.
- Maintain and improve legacy systems, enhancing code reliability and maintainability.
- Implement automated testing to guarantee code quality.
- Use containerization (Docker) and modern CI/CD pipelines for continuous delivery.
- Leverage AI‑assisted development tools and remote environments such as GitHub Codespaces.
Required profile
- 4+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Proven production experience with Elixir and Phoenix.
- Advanced English proficiency.
- Completed a four‑year college degree.
- Strong background in API design and mobile backend development.
- Deep experience with SQL, PostgreSQL, and Ecto.
- Experience integrating third‑party APIs and working with legacy codebases.
- Solid automated testing practices.
- Familiarity with Docker and CI/CD workflows.
- Comfortable using AI‑assisted tools and remote dev environments.
- Experience in eCommerce, powersports, or multi‑tenant platforms is a plus.
- Ability to take extreme ownership, work in Agile/Scrum teams, and solve complex problems.
