About the role

The Ministry of Education of Bolivia seeks a consultant to review and strengthen the architectural design standards for school sanitary facilities across the country. The assignment focuses on creating safe, inclusive, and hygienic sanitation solutions for all educational levels, with special attention to gender, disability, and rural contexts.

Key responsibilities

• Review existing national standards and related Latin American regulations.
• Develop differentiated design standards for sanitary units by educational level, geographic zone, and user type, including reference drawings.
• Integrate criteria for menstrual hygiene management, privacy, and security into the designs.
• Define technical specifications for alternative water supply and wastewater disposal systems suitable for rural schools.
• Strengthen universal accessibility requirements to ensure dignified use by persons with disabilities.

Required profile

• Professional experience in architectural design of sanitary infrastructure for educational facilities.
• Knowledge of WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) standards and inclusive design principles.
• Familiarity with public‑sector standards and the ability to produce technical documentation.
• Experience working on projects in Latin America or similar contexts is an advantage.
