Legal Accounting Specialist (Remote) – LATAM
HireHawk
Job description
About the role
HireHawk is recruiting on behalf of a U.S.-based employment law firm for a full-time, long-term remote Accounting Specialist. The role supports the day-to-day financial operations of a busy law firm, taking ownership of accurate bookkeeping, reconciliations, transaction processing, reporting and month-end support. It is a hands-on individual contributor position, not a management or CFO-level role, working Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 6:00 pm PST.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain complete and accurate financial records across IOLTA trust accounts and business operating accounts, protecting client funds and keeping trust records fully traceable.
- Reconcile bank, trust, operating and accounting records, investigating and resolving discrepancies promptly.
- Process deposits, disbursements, transfers, invoices, expenses and other transactions with close attention to supporting documentation.
- Keep QuickBooks organized and up to date, and prepare recurring financial, reconciliation and transaction reports using QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel.
- Support month-end accounting by reviewing balances, organizing records and completing required reconciliations.
- Communicate with legal and operational team members and proactively flag unusual activity, missing documentation or potential accounting issues.
- Handle confidential financial information, client funds, settlement-related information and internal business data with strict confidentiality.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or completed accounting coursework.
- Previous hands-on accounting or bookkeeping experience within a U.S. law firm.
- Demonstrated experience managing both IOLTA trust accounts and business operating accounts.
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish, with clear written and verbal communication.
- Nice to have: accounting experience in a personal injury law firm, month-end closing support for a legal practice, familiarity with settlement transactions or client ledgers, and experience improving bookkeeping or reporting processes.
Required skills
- Advanced QuickBooks proficiency (transactions, reconciliations, reports, account records).
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, reconciliations, data organization and financial reporting.
- Accounting fundamentals, ability to learn new workflows quickly, manage competing priorities and work independently.
What we offer
- Access to a $200K+ perk marketplace with discounts on 150+ global services.
- Option to withdraw up to 50% of approved earnings before payday.
