Head of Derivatives & Financial Products

About the role

The Head of Derivatives & Financial Products will lead the development and management of our futures and derivatives activities within a global physical metals trading business. Reporting to senior management, you will be responsible for shaping hedging strategies, overseeing trading operations and ensuring robust risk controls across precious and base metal portfolios.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and expand the LME & Futures Desk, driving trading performance.
• Manage hedging activities linked to the company’s physical metals portfolio.
• Execute and supervise futures, options and other derivative transactions.
• Develop and implement hedging strategies for base and precious metals.
• Monitor market exposure, positions, spreads, forward curves and liquidity on a daily basis.
• Control basis, pricing, timing and market risks associated with physical trading.
• Collaborate with physical traders to structure effective hedging for purchases and sales.
• Optimize margin requirements, collateral and liquidity utilization.
• Maintain relationships with brokers, clearing members, banks and other counterparties.
• Establish clear position limits, controls and risk-management procedures.
• Perform daily reconciliation of all trades and accounts.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in metals trading, derivatives, hedging or commodity risk management.
• University degree in Finance or a related field.
• Hands‑on knowledge of metals and precious metals markets.
• Experience managing futures and options positions linked to physical commodity flows.
• Strong understanding of forward curves, spreads, basis risk and pricing periods.
• Fluent English; additional languages are a plus.
