Grants Accounting Specialist – Latin America

About the role

The Grants Accounting Specialist supports financial stewardship across Latin America, ensuring donor compliance, accurate records, and timely payments while partnering with program teams, country offices, and finance leadership.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate grant budgets, expenditures and financial reports for donor and policy compliance.
• Provide financial guidance on grant management, cost allocation, expense coding and donor requirements.
• Monitor grant transactions and cost allocations to ensure accurate accounting treatment.
• Prepare and submit grant financial reports in line with donor and organizational standards.
• Manage accounts payable processes, including vendor invoices and employee reimbursements.
• Perform reconciliations of grant‑related, vendor and balance‑sheet accounts.
• Support month‑end and year‑end closing activities with journal entries, accruals and analysis.
• Maintain audit‑ready documentation and prepare schedules for donor and statutory audits.
• Promote compliance with financial policies, internal controls and recommend process improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA or local equivalent highly desirable.
• 3‑5 years of accounting experience, preferably in grant accounting and donor compliance.
• Experience with ERP systems, ideally Workday.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.
• Willingness to travel throughout the Latin America region.
