About the role
We are seeking a motivated professional with expertise in environmental and social risk assessment to provide technical support for IDB Invest‑financed projects, ensuring they meet the Environmental and Social Sustainability Policy.
Key responsibilities
- Support origination, execution and monitoring of investment projects with integrated ESG considerations.
- Conduct environmental and social due diligence and risk assessments for investment operations.
- Design and implement mitigation measures and action plans.
- Assist clients in meeting ESG requirements and strengthen their ESG capacity.
- Provide technical input on ESG matters throughout the project cycle.
- Monitor compliance with environmental and social standards and commitments.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to advance sustainable development objectives.
- Support stakeholder engagement and consultation processes.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in engineering, environmental management, law, environmental sciences, anthropology or a related field.
- Minimum five years of professional experience in Latin America and the Caribbean on environmental and social impact assessments, management plans, cumulative impact analysis and monitoring of development projects.
- Proven track record in due diligence, negotiation and supervision of environmental and social aspects.
- Experience applying IFC Performance Standards and expertise in resettlement, Indigenous Peoples, contextual risk analysis, grievance mechanisms, labor and working conditions.
- Fluent in Spanish and English (written and spoken); French or Portuguese a plus.
- Eligible to work in the job location without sponsorship and no family members employed by IDB entities.
