About the role

The Sectional Safety Officer (SSO) will contribute to a safer operation by supervising compliance with industrial safety standards, promoting risk prevention, protecting personnel, and driving continuous improvement across all mining processes.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise activities in underground, surface and plant areas, ensuring safety controls are applied.
• Identify hazards, assess risks and implement preventive measures to avoid incidents.
• Participate in incident investigations and propose corrective actions.
• Oversee high‑risk work and conduct preventive inspections.
• Deliver safety training and inductions for occupational health and safety.
• Follow up on audits, inspections and action plans, fostering continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Proactive professional with strong technical judgment, analytical ability and a solid commitment to safety.
• Degree in Mining Engineering or Geology.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in industrial safety, preferably in mining operations.
• In‑depth knowledge of mining safety, risk management and critical risk controls.
• Experience with incident investigation methodologies such as ICAM or root‑cause analysis.
• Familiarity with applicable legal regulations, high‑risk work and operational mining safety.
• Desirable knowledge of ventilation, basic geomechanics, blasting, ground support, mobile equipment and explosives handling.
• Valid SySO card (category A or B) and intermediate proficiency in MS Office.
