Environmental & Social Senior Officer

About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated professional to join IDB Invest’s Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance Division as an Environmental & Social Senior Officer. The role provides technical support to ensure that IDB Invest‑financed projects are environmentally and socially sustainable across Latin America and the Caribbean.

Key responsibilities

• Support the origination, appraisal, execution and monitoring of investment operations throughout the project lifecycle.
• Lead environmental and social due‑diligence processes for investment proposals, assessing impacts, risks and their manageability.
• Provide technical guidance on ESG matters during project design, structuring and implementation.
• Strengthen client understanding and capacity to manage E&S risks, including the development of robust management systems and action plans.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate E&S considerations into project supervision.

Required profile

• Demonstrated expertise in environmental and social risk assessment and management.
• Experience aligning projects with an Environmental and Social Sustainability Policy.
• Knowledge of biodiversity, sustainable supply chains, resettlement, Indigenous Peoples, stakeholder engagement, grievance mechanisms and labor conditions.
• Background in agribusiness, forestry, extractive sectors or critical minerals is a plus.
