Google Cloud DevOps Engineer – 5‑Month Contract

About the role

You will own the design, build, and maintenance of Google Cloud infrastructure for a large‑scale operational platform. The role is focused on standing up GKE/Kubernetes clusters, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud‑native monitoring, with intensive work during the first two months and ongoing support thereafter.

Key responsibilities

• Build and configure GKE clusters and Google Cloud project environments using an existing Terraform baseline.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and environment promotion workflows, preferably with Cloud Build and Artifact Registry.
• Configure and maintain Google Cloud‑native monitoring, alerting, and logging (Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging).
• Produce, maintain, and support deployment packages through system acceptance.
• Enforce disciplined Git practices, including branching, pull requests, and commit hygiene.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure, deployment, and CI/CD pipeline issues.
• Collaborate with platform and engineering teams to align infrastructure with broader architecture.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience with Terraform on Google Cloud.
• Strong hands‑on experience with GKE and Kubernetes cluster setup and management.
• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using GCP‑native tools.
• Excellent English communication skills and ability to maintain at least 4 hours of daily overlap with U.S. Eastern business hours.
