Frontend Engineer (GIS & Data Visualization)

About the role

We are looking for a Mid-to-Senior Frontend Engineer who will design and build intuitive, data-driven web applications focused on geospatial visualisation. The role combines modern JavaScript development with interactive map creation, turning complex operational data into clear, actionable user experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and enhance large-scale interactive maps, including layer controls, colour-coding, and manual overrides.
• Build and maintain operational dashboards that translate complex datasets into user-friendly interfaces.
• Implement accessible front-end experiences meeting WCAG 2.1 AA standards and support ongoing accessibility testing.
• Work with geospatial and operational data to create responsive, map-based user experiences.
• Participate in beta feedback cycles, resolve defects, improve UI, and harden applications for production.
• Collaborate with the delivery team using documented designs, code reviews, Git-based workflows and ticketed development processes.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code) to increase development efficiency and code quality.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 4+ years of professional Frontend Development experience.
• Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
• Ability to maintain at least 4 hours of daily overlap with U.S. Eastern business hours.

Required skills

• Modern JavaScript frameworks – preferably React or Angular.
• Web-mapping libraries such as ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript, MapLibre, Leaflet or Google Maps.
• Experience with geospatial or location-based data in front-end applications.
• Data-visualisation and dashboard development.
• Implementation of WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility requirements.
• Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Use of AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., Claude Code).
